RIDING MY BIKE

By Anthony Michaud

Everyday I ask to go outside.

Mom and Dad say "not today".

I dream of riding for the very first time.

But then I hear "It’s too cold outside".

Staring out the window I can’t see the ground.

The sun is high up in the sky.

My parents say "The mercury’s too low".

How can this be?  The birds must know.

CHORUS

I can’t wait to be riding my bike.

With my helmet fastened on

I must be moving on

While I sing this song.

Looking out the window, buds on the trees.

I got the okay; I’m ready to go.

I take out the bike, the training wheels gone.

Hop on the seat.  Let’s move those feet.

CHORUS

Day after day I travel around.

I pedal ‘til the sun goes down.

Faster and faster I will go.

Only when Mom and Dad say so.

Day after day I’m riding my bike.

With my helmet fastened on

I must be moving on

While I sing this song.
